Appropriate Infrastructure

My interest in strengthening the local economy is always paramount in my mind.  Through an ongoing evaluation of options which further capitalize on the beauty and diversity of our local environment, I will strive to provide leadership that will balance gains in economic activity with the quality of life (and broadly defined health) in the TOBM.

Roads....

I’ve been working with Blue Mountain Resort and Intrawest, along with the Town of Collingwood to raise awareness with the Ministry of Transportation of the traffic issues facing our Towns.  I organized the first meeting in Ontario with neighbouring municipalities and the Ministry of Transportation regarding secondary road upgrades required in Grey & Simcoe Counties.  For the first time ever, the MTO granted ten million dollars to address some of our concerns regarding upgrading secondary road infrastructure.  Ongoing negotiations continue regarding the Highway 26 bypass.

Other Infrastructure (Services, Trails, Municipal Properties, etc.)

Within the past year, roughly $9 million in federal and provincial grants have been secured on behalf of the Town of the Blue Mountains.
